Latest Message From The President
Hello Everyone!
I am writing to introduce myself and say how much I appreciate everyone’s hard work and dedication to our great organization. I am just leaving the Colorado Springs CALEA Conference where I was very pleased to see classes and information directed toward our specialty. Congratulations to all of the agencies that were up for awards at this conference. I sat in on some of the hearings and was impressed with what professional and dedicated folks we have out there! I am very honored to be serving as your President and hope I can get to know you all better and be of assistance in any way I can.
For those of you who don’t know me, I am the Communications Manager of the College Station, Texas Police Department. We are a B size agency with 30 full time Communications employees. I have been the Communications Manager for the past 7 years and the accreditation manager for the past 6. I have 18 years experience in law enforcement and public safety and am a CALEA assessor. We were initially accredited in 2003 and were the first in Texas! We have since been re-accredited and designated as a Flagship Agency during the Reno Conference in 2006. We are transitioning into the 2nd edition, much like everyone else. I am a graduate of Texas A&M University, class of 1984, with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. I am currently pursuing a Masters in Criminal Justice Leadership and Administrations from Sam Houston State University. (I’m doing this in my spare time ; -)
I want to especially thank Beth Burton for her service to PSCASN. Her input and knowledge has been a great resource for many agencies. It is hard to find someone as dedicated as Beth and I know it will be difficult to follow in her footsteps.
Again, I look forward to meeting all of you. Have a great Holiday Season!
